The Qemists- Fading Halo ft. Chantal of Invasion.

It's hard to pin point the exact reason why certain songs stand out to you more than others. There are the obvious reasons such as because it's from your favourite genre or artist, and yet there are some songs that due to the memories associated with hearing it that first time create a lasting impression.

Fading Halo by The Qemists is a classic example. I realise it is not a new song and there are probably other drum & bass artists equally if not more talented. However, I heard it for the first time last week whilst driving up a very steep and rugged mountain, surrounded by the beauty of the Lake District and with a car full of my friends.

As I drove my car higher, the tempo of the song grew and by pure chance reached it's climax as the road also came to the highest point. Was it the stunning scenery, the speed of both my car and the song, the sense of freedom or how I was with my closest friends that gave me the shivers? I couldn't tell you.

And maybe that's the point, rather than trying to understand the magic behind this song, I should just accept it.
